2013 Formula1 Podcast: Formula1 On Fire, 11 New Drivers

Back in routine, back to our weekly Formula1 podcast ‘The Inside Line’, Rishi and I discuss the first pre-season test that was held in Jerez last week. We discuss what we learned! And of course, we discussed how many cars caught fire!

Testing isn’t always boring as I have already explained in an earlier post ‘The Fun Part of Formula1 Testing’ and podcast on the testing rules in Formula1. (Tyre War, Testing and Chevrolet)

And to add to our testing talk, we also bring back Luca Montezemolo’s favourite topic – 3 car Formula1 teams! Rishi and I go about picking our ‘third’ racing driver for each team (origin of idea by our avid listener, Latesh!). Hear the podcast to see if your view matches ours! • First pre-season test in Jerez. What did we learn?
  • 11 teams, 33 cars and 33 drivers! We all know the 22 (or 21) names racing in the 2013 Formula1 Season. Hear the other 11 names we’ve nominated!

If you missed our earlier podcast, come hear ‘Happy New Season’.
Also, I am in BIG favour of three car teams in Formula1. Read my views here: Three Cars Teams In Formula1 And Why I Am In Favour.

  • Bernie’s daughter? hahahahaaha
How come no Indian driver? I would love to see what Karun and Narain can actually do in a good car.

  • EDDIE IRVINE, WAS A GOOD ONE AS AN ANTONYM TO RAIKKONEN,, BUT FINGERS CROSSED AGAINST FOR KUBICA TO RETURN,,
    AND NARAYAN NARAYAN !!!
LET ME WAKE UP,, EVERY DREAM IS NOT TRUE !!!
MY HEART 2 CRIES GLOCK & KOVI , BUT IT SEEMS DTM IS GROWING DESTINATION FOR F1 GRADUATES, WITH LIKES OF KUBICA, GLOCK, EVEN SENNA RUMOURED TO BE MOVING TO BMW’S & AMG’S DTM CAMP,,
SEEMS THEY R REPLACING THE GENERATION OF COULTHARD, RALF & MIKA CURRENTLY RETIRING FROM THE GENRE.

  • MICHEAL WITH RED BULL,, GREAT COMBO,, BUT GUYS FERRARI HAS A TESTING EXPERIENCE WITH THE LEGEND -ROSSI,, SIMIALARLY RED BULL HAS ALSO A TESTING XP WITH RALLY LEGEND LOEB… HOW COULD YOU MISS HIM.
AND MAY BE RED BULL MOTORSPORT DIVISION HAS AN OBSESSION WITH SEBASTIANS,, WITH ONCE VETTEL N BOURDIAS AS TEAMMATES IN STR, ELSE LOEB , BUEMI, ALSO ADD TO THE LIST.
WILLIAMS TOO HAD AN OBSESSION WITH NICO’S ONCE UPON A TIME , WITH BOTH ROSBERG N HULKENBERG DEBUTED WITH THE SAME TEAM.

  • I would like to see Schumi in Ferrari & I would want to see Coulthard in Mclaren. Also i thought Valentino Rossi is a motor cycle racer, what is he doing in F1 anyway?
Since i started following F1 only from 2011(ok, mid of 2010), i sure did not know a lot of not so famous drivers you guys are talking about for example takuma sato & some more. I will catch up eventually i guess!!
Kunal/Rishi: Berinie’s daughter!!, which one of them again??? 😉

    • Yes, there are some very fantastic drivers who had to discontinue racing in F1 due to reasons beyond their control. Sato and Villeneuve are two such drivers that I can immediately recollect.
Rossi is Italian, Ferrari is Italian, depending on their interests, Rossi has tested the Ferrari F1 cars in the past and maybe he could move to racing in F1 some day. John Surtees is the only driver in history to win a world championship on both 4 and 2 wheels!
And I think Rishi will settle for either of the daughters! HAHA!

  • Hmm… sad truth.
Good to know about John Surtees, Thx!! I had no clue.
