2012 Indian Grand Prix Tickets Go On Sale

The inaugural Indian Grand Prix was a big success and a near sell out last year. All this after the ticket sales went live only 8 weeks prior to Race Day which thankfully didn’t affect attendance given the novelty factor of the event.

However, the organisers of the Indian Grand Prix, Jaypee Sports International, are not leaving it to chance this time and have started sale of their tickets to the 2012 Indian Grand Prix more than 6 months prior to their date with Formula1.

JPSI has also disclosed that there will be 2,000 extra seats that will be on offer this time, taking the possible attendance of the GP to a shade less than the 100,000 figure. While it shouldn’t be a tough task to sell full inventory, a few extra months will always come handy.

This early sale of tickets will help people plan their Formula1 weekend in October much better. Last year, many outstation (out of Delhi) fans had difficulties in arranging for last minute accommodation and transport to and from the circuit. The organisers too have promised an increase in their quality of transport services to and from the track as well.

The other good news of course is that the ticket prices are cheaper than last year. The Main Grand Stand, which is also the most expensive stand, will retail at Rs. 30,000 (Rs. 5,000 lesser than last year) and the cheapest stand (the natural stands) is priced at Rs. 3,500 (Rs. 1,000 up from last year). All in all, good news for the Indian Formula1 fans who are already waiting in excitement for the second edition of the Airtel Indian Grand Prix.
