20: Why Driver Salaries Should Never Be Included In The Budget Cap

20: Why Driver Salaries Should Never Be Included In The Budget Cap

[ad_1]

Formula 1 and the FIA have made one of their most sublime moves in recent times on the teams – a budget cap and handicap for aerodynamic development. They’ve also introduced two new terms that we will hear for the rest of time – glide path (for the budget cap) and sliding scale (for the aero cap). But the ONE THING we don’t ever wish to have added to the budget cap is driver salaries.
Also in this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast (https://bit.ly/insidelinef1pod) , why the Dutch Grand Prix should never be without the fans (or TV-only), how Lawrence Stroll’s paternal and business instincts need to have a clear demarcation and we bet that Formula 1 will offer more track time to teams before the first race of the 2020 Formula 1 season. Tune in!
(Season 2020, Episode 20)
Here’s what’s in store for you in this episode:
0:00-3:00 – The Mercedes-Aston Martin, Lawrence Stroll-Toto Wolff rumour and could it finally give us a Lewis Hamilton-Lance Stroll partnership?
3:00-6:00 – The budget cap should never include drivers’ salaries ever! We tell you why
6:00-9:00 – A handicap system to help slower teams has reaped results in the past. It’s a landmark move for Formula 1
9:00-12:00 – Will A-B team partnerships strengthen even more under the new restricted aerodynamic development regulations?
12:00-15:00 – Kudos to the FIA for starting a ‘hotline’ number for whistle blowers. But can you please also release the details of the settlement with Ferrari over their power units from 2019?
15:00-end – Audi & Formula E are taking their Esports commitment a bit too seriously. Is a promotion to Mercedes a bit too early for the yet-to-prove-himself George Russell? Finally, teams and drivers will need a bit of track time to get back in sync and rhythm before the start of the 2020 Formula 1 season.
