27: Mercedes Win But Chinks In Armour Exposed

27: Mercedes Win But Chinks In Armour Exposed

[ad_1]

Unsurprisingly, Mercedes are the class of the field this season, too. But the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix did expose a few chinks in their armour. We discuss them in our Pits to Podium (https://bit.ly/2020austriangpdebrief) race debrief along with the other talking points – Hamilton-Albon’s incident, Vettel’s spin, Leclerc & Norris’ charge to the podium. Finally, we wonder if Racing Point should be pleased with a non-podium finish.

And there’s more in this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast: we explain the context behind Romain Grosjean’s ‘unacceptable that Lewis Hamilton earns $40mn’ statement. Should we still be surprised by Red Bull Racing’s decision to favour Max Verstappen over others? Finally, should Sebastian Vettel have received penalty points for not wearing his mask? Such are the times we live in.

(Season 2020, Episode 27)

Here’s what’s in store for you in this episode:
0:00-3:00 – Same circuit, same team-drivers but we WON’T have the same podium in Race 2 in Austria or the 2020 Steiermark Grand Prix. A surprise result is great for Formula 1…but not for our fantasy league scores
3:00-6:00 – Romain Grosjean’s ‘unacceptable that Lewis Hamilton earns $40 mn’ statement had a crucial context that most missed
6:00-9:00 – Lando Norris, what a wonderful addition to the podium line-up! Btw, did Mercedes not inform Lewis Hamilton of his gap to NOR on the last lap?
9:00-12:00 – Helmets off to the FIA and Formula 1 for a safe start to the 2020 Formula1 season. Let’s hope the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix is a template they can re-use at other venues to bring us more races
12:00-15:00 – We found three chinks in Mercedes’ armour. Also, did Valtteri Bottas purposely slow down on the last lap of the race to bump Lewis Hamilton lower down the order?
15:00-end – Pits To Podium Debrief: 2020 Austrian Grand Prix
