The Joke Is On Mclaren

The ‘third driver’ in a Formula One team might not have a very exciting job in today’s times, but the ‘third host’ on the Inside Line F1 Podcast does. Mithila Mehta debuts on our show and joins Kunal for the first time where they wonder if Mclaren might not be the fastest, but the funniest team of 2015. They talk about robots in Formula One and how one of them got it all wrong at Wimbledon and if Williams will turn to be a team of ‘retired drivers’ in 2016 – The Expendables of Formula One? Tune in! (Season 2015; Episode 23)

  • Hi Kunal,
Interesting to hear your podcast, this is the first time I’m listening to you. So, next time around, I shall get to hear Rishi as well.
I think we should give one last chance to McLaren during the second half of this year. It seems, as per Honda and McLaren that they seemed to have “figured out” the issues and ready to up the power. Statement that Honda made was a bit contradicting. Mr. Arai said they reliability part is done and dusted, so now its time to crank up the power. Seriously? There have been mechanical retirements in almost every race, so is this only talks in the air to keep motivating the fans or is there going to be some genuine catching up to be done in the second half?
I agree with you on Verstappen’s comments on the crash. He thinks he can take more risks since modern F1 cars are safe and bear the brunt of heavy impacts. Good he didn’t tell that this week!

    • Thank you for listening!! 🙂 And even more so for commenting. Curious to know where did you find us from? (I am a marketer, after all).
Frankly, the restriction in engine development is what I believe is harming Honda. And the rest is much of PR talk to keep sponsors and fans happy. I would love to give them as many chances as they want because the sport will always benefit from a competitive Mclaren.
And yes, not the week to talk about crashes and safety in F1. Btw, did you tune into the ‘Godspeed Jules Bianchi’ episode?
